We stumbled across this lovely selection of nougat and just had to get some. We each grabbed a paper bag and started filling up with a selection of flavours. It wasn't until the lady weighed them and the price of 23 euros flashed up on the scales. I was too embarrassed to put some back and also alert Jen who was still choosing. With hers included, we spent over 50 euros on nougat. Woops, rookie mistake!
We hired these awesome electric bikes from Alsa Cyclo Tours in the village. The man was very helpful and friendly and for 35 euros each, very reasonable for a whole day cycling through the vineyards.
The Alsatian hotpot is a traditional dish of the region. It was packed with pork, mutton and beef and vegetables. Most of the town was shut when we arrived despite it being lunch time. But luckily for us Restaurant Edel was open. http://www.a-edel-traiteur-eguisheim.fr/
Next door is a cute little deli where we stocked up on provisions for the evening.
This was the traditional pizza of the region. A bit burnt around the edges but still delicious. It is called a Tarte Flambee, or Flammekueche.
